- Front and back-end developer
During my year at Hyper Island, we created our class website Cloudania. As a teaser for this website, we created a small online experiment where people could exchange ideas. The idea was based upon the fact that we believed everyone could have good ideas, you only had to discover it. We tried to find a way for people to share any idea they have, and get something in return.
When you enter the site, you were prompted with a post-it note that asked you to write an idea on it.
Writing your idea
You were allowed to write down any kind of idea, big or small, as long as it fitted on one post it note.
Reviewing other's ideas
Once you'd finished your idea and pressed 'Swap', your idea was saved to share it with others, and in return you received an idea from someone else. This idea appeared as a new post it note on top of yours. You were able to keep pressing 'Swap again' to keep getting ideas from other people.
Most addictive website
The results were way beyond what we expected. We had about 400.000 visitors in the first month, and half a million visitors in the first year. This resulted in appr. 430 000 ideas generated. We were even named 'The Most Addictive Website of All Time' on Oprah Winfrey's blog.
